Tickets are now on sale for London Transport Museum’s award-winning Hidden London tours, with availability for dates up until the end of September 2025. This season, tours of Charing Cross, Piccadilly Circus, and the disused Aldwych station have been enhanced with updated content and improved audio-visual features.

These updates are part of a year-long celebration marking the 10th anniversary of Hidden London. The programme first launched in June 2015 with tours of the hidden areas of Charing Cross Underground station.

Hidden London offers 12 exclusive guided tours that take visitors behind the scenes of the Underground network. These tours provide rare access to disused stations, time-capsule corridors, forgotten platforms, and wartime shelters, revealing little-known historical details from the museum’s archives.

The Hidden London tours are the only ones in the capital that open up these normally off-limits locations, giving visitors the unique opportunity to explore secret parts of the Underground network and learn about London’s transport history exactly where it unfolded.

The tours are now open to younger visitors aged 10 and over (previously 14+), allowing families to explore together for the first time.

Popular Tours Enhanced for 10th Anniversary

To celebrate a decade of Hidden London, the museum’s historical experts have revisited TfL’s corporate archives and the London Transport Museum’s collection to uncover new documents, maps, and photographs. This research has enriched the narratives of three of the tours, with additional audio and visual elements designed to bring the stories to life and engage a broader, younger audience.

Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of VE Day, Aldwych: The End of the Line will now feature more first-hand accounts from Londoners who sheltered in the disused station during the Second World War. Visitors will also learn more about how Aldwych safeguarded national treasures during air raids.

Tours for Aldwych: The End of the Line will begin on 21 May 2025, with tickets starting at £42.

Piccadilly Circus: The Heart of London will delve deeper into the station’s role during the Second World War, enhanced with new audio and visual storytelling. The tour also explores the station’s architectural evolution, from Leslie Green’s iconic red-tiled exterior to Charles Holden’s modernist redesign of the 1920s. Guests will now have the chance to walk through a newly opened disused area, retracing the steps of Edwardian passengers heading to the Bakerloo line.

Tours begin on 18 June 2025, with tickets starting at £42.

The tour of Charing Cross’s disused areas has been renamed Charing Cross: Behind the Silver Screen, giving guests more time to explore the station’s Jubilee line platforms and concourses. Although closed to the public since 1999, these areas have been popular filming locations for productions such as Skyfall (2012), The Good Liar (2019), One Love (2024), Sherlock (2010), and Gangs of London (2020).

Tours start on 18 April 2025, with prices from £42.

Other Tours Available from April to September

This spring and summer, visitors can also explore Clapham South: Subterranean Shelter, which takes them into the Second World War deep-level shelter hidden beneath Clapham South station. The tour now features historically accurate reconstructions of key areas, including a canteen, and is led by a guide portraying a 1940s warden, bringing to life the experience of a wartime family’s first night in the shelter. This tour will run on additional dates during half terms, summer holidays, and on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Other available tours include:

Station tours run from Wednesday to Sunday, with two to three locations available each week. Secrets of Central London runs every other Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are now available at ltmuseum.co.uk/hidden-london. They include half-price entry to London Transport Museum (within a month of the tour) and a 10% discount on full-priced products at the museum shop.
