Longleat and Cheddar Gorge & Caves have confirmed they are closed to visitors with immediate effect. The move follows updated recommendations on public health and social distancing.
In addition to both attractions being closed to visitors, Longleat has taken the decision to restrict access to other areas of the Estate including Heaven’s Gate and Shearwater.
The car parks for these areas will also be closed to visitors. Additionally, Cheddar Gorge & Caves will no longer be granting access to Jacob’s Ladder and the Cliff-top Walk.
“We are obviously very disappointed at having to make this decision. We had hoped to be able to continue to provide a limited offer to the public,” said Ceawlin Thynn, Executive Chairman of Longleat Enterprises.
“However it has become clear during the recent spell of good weather, and given the demand for people wanting to visit both sites, the risks involved with regard to safe social distancing are simply too great.
“Our number one priority must be the health and wellbeing of our staff and guests,” he added.
Both Longleat and Cheddar Gorge & Caves will be providing updates and new information via their digital platforms including on their websites and social media.
